Charles Edward Young, age 78 of Robbins, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 after a short battle with cancer.
Charles was a lifelong coal miner working in Kentucky and Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army in Hawaii from 1963 to 1965.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Zane and Martha Goad Young; brothers: Eli Young and wife Carla, and Billy Joe Young; sisters: Drexel Ward and husband Don, Sally Poe and husband Jerry.
He is survived by brothers: Harold and wife Sandra, David and wife Louise; sister-in-law Phyllis Taylor; nephews: John, Joseph, Jason, Anthony and Derek Young; nieces: Veronica Huliba, Kim Strom, Jenny Poe, Tonya, Miranda, Holly and Amanda Young; great nieces and nephews: Peyton, Andrew, Jarrod, Chloe and Chapel; special friends Ethridge Strunk and Imogene Parson and family; many other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Young family on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Smithers. Music will be provided by the First Baptist Church Choir.
Interment will follow in the Young Family Cemetery in Glenmary with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
