Welcome to the memorial page for

Edna Phillips Heth

August 27, 2017

Edna Heth passed away from this world Sunday the 27th of August 2017, eighty-seven years after she entered it.  Born in Oneida, TN, she was the eighth of nine children to Etha and Elmer Phillips, and was the eighth sibling to pass on.

Edna was a wife, mother, and homemaker; worked in dime stores and dress shops, and was a local administrative assistant to Rep. LaMar Baker of TN. She owned a secondhand shop (Second Touch), managed her son’s knife shop (Charlie’s Knives), taught Sunday school, and was a Brownie Scout leader. And she could roller skate better than anyone and made the best divinity candy at Christmas time. Edna was funny, wrote poetry, and was always willing to help her family, her neighbors, and strangers.

In 1948 she married Charles W. Heth, a World War II Veteran who worked for the Department of Energy and they raised two children in Oak Ridge. She will be missed by family and friends. Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Heth Connor, a son, Charles Edward (Charlie) Heth, a granddaughter, Tonya Heth Whalen, three great grandchildren, Zac Heth, William Whalen, and Cassidy Whalen — all of Oak Ridge. She is also survived by a sister, Delphia Phillips Baldwin, and many nieces and nephews — all of whom will miss her.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 1, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 7:00 pm with Ronnie Booher, of Dalton, Georgia, officiating.  Interment will be Saturday, September 2nd at 11:00 am at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens on Edgemoor Rd.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made in the form of donations to your favorite charity.
