Frances Cotton

September 13, 1921 ~ December 22, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Frances Cotton, age 96 of Helenwood, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was born in Helenwood, Tennessee on September 13, 1921, to the late Rev. Joe and Ollie Phillips Bowling.  She was united in marriage on August 17, 1940 to Delbert Cotton, who preceded her in death on January 22, 2001.

Frances was a lifelong and devoted member of the Helenwood Baptist Church.  She loved the Lord and to read her bible daily. She read it through several times.  Her life was the church and serving the Lord through teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir since she was 14 years old.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Dennis Fred Cotton; son-in-law Ovia Cross; daughter-in-law Donna Cotton; three sisters: Annie Bowling, Violet Robbins and Veda Keeton; three brothers: Willie (Sonny) Bowling, Lacy Bowling and Claude (Sie) Bowling.

Survived by her children Betty Cross of Somerset, KY and O.B. Cotton of Helenwood, TN; six grandchildren: Christopher Cross (DeAnn), Philip Cross (Margo), Stephanie McClendon (Scott), Brian Cotton, Tanya Phillips (Chris) and Chancy Cotton (Tia); seven great grandchildren: Kristen Cross, Peyton Cross, Jaxson McClendon, Tyler and Tanner Cotton, and Cale and Jarrett Phillips; sisters-in-law: Beulah Cotton Barnett, Eunice Weaver Cotton and Anna Bowling; daughter-in-law Teresa Cotton; many other relatives and friends.  A special thank you to the staff of the Oneida Nursing home who showed so much love and care to Frances.  She will be missed by many and mourned by her family but welcomed into the Kingdom of God by her Savior Jesus Christ.   

Friends may visit with the Cotton family on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jim West and Bro. John Thompson officiating.  Music will be provided by the New Haven Choir and Lloyd and Arnold Stephens.

Interment will follow in the Cotton Family Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Christopher, Philip, Scott, Chris, Chancy and Brian
