Melton Harness

Melton Harness, age 72 of Huntsville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side.  Born April 5, 1945 in Scott County, TN, he was the son of the late Levi and Artincy Lawson Harness.

In addition to his parents, Melton was preceded in death by his son:  Melton Bradley Harness; brothers:  Crawford Harness, Claude Harness, and Esco Harness and wife Zula Faye; sisters:  Ida Jones and husband A. J., Columbia Harness and husband Mack; 3 infant brothers and 3 infant sisters; father and mother-in-law:  James and Nila Marlow; sisters-in-law:  Rosie Marlow and Phyllis Marlow, and Loretta Marlow Pedigo, Brenda Sue Marlow, and Linda Lou Marlow;  brother-in-law Buddy Marlow; nephews:  David Harness, Rodney Harness, Andrew Overton, Donnie Marlow, Zayden Harness and Brayden Harness; and best friend:  Randall Warren.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Marlow Harness; and his very special baby girl:  Savanah Cotton Davidson and husband Jonathan; a very special friend whom he thought of as his son:  Arnold Mason and wife Anita and their children: Ashleigh and Easton; sister:  Ada Byrd and husband Ledford; sisters-in-law:  Beatrice Harness, Thelma Harness, Stasha Marlow, Nona Strunk, Marsha Keeton and husband Lillard; brothers-in-law:  Rodney Marlow, Donald Marlow, Michael Marlow and wife Sharon, Joe Marlow and wife Rosalee, Cecil Marlow and wife Toni; special nieces: Virginia Harness, Andrea Alfrey, Megan Massey, Colby Massey, Penny Paul, Tanisha Lewallen, Jessica Strunk, Kim Marlow-Hill, Marleesa Strunk, Marla Howard, Montana Goodman, Shari Keeton, Rhonda Davis, Karen Hutson, and Joyce Sherman; special nephews: Joe Buster Marlow, Brian Strunk, Kevin Marlow, Nathan Strunk, Logan Strunk, Darren Chambers, Jordan Goodman, Ernie Marlow, Matthew Hill, and James and John Marlow; very special friends:  Ronnie Teague and Clifton Carroll; as well as many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to U.T. Hospice that took such good care of him, and all the wonderful nurses who became his best friends.  He could hardly wait for them to come visit, and they loved him so much.  Christy Simms and Jana Johnson, thank you for being here when he needed you most.

Friends may visit with the Harness family on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Pete Norman and Bro. Buster Marlow officiating.  Music will be provided by: Stasha Marlow, Toni Marlow, and Pearlie Morrell, Leann Morrell and Bren Norman.

Graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Harness Family Cemetery in the Mountain View Community of Robbins, TN.  Pallbearers will be:  Brian Strunk, Darren Chambers, Buster Marlow, Kevin Marlow, Ernie Marlow and Jordan Goodman.  Honorary Pallbearers will be: Troy, Jimmy, Teddy, Dwight and Michael Harness.
