Wanda Lee Phillips

February 7, 1943 ~ December 24, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Wanda Lee Phillips, age 74 of Tunnel Hill Community in Helenwood, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Born February 7, 1943 in Scott County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Gada N. Lay.  She was the wife of Segal Roy Phillips.  Sister Phillips was the cofounder of the Faith of God Non-Denominational Church.  Wanda was a very talented piano player, singer and songwriter.  She loved cooking meals for the whole family. She spent her whole life dedicated to the Lord, having read the KJV bible through at least 40 times.  She always went out of her way to help others in times of need.  She loved going to Wal-Mart and meeting people and witnessing to them about God.  She always ended conversations with, “Have a blessed day”.  Whenever asked how she was doing, she always answered with, “I’m blessed”.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She was a fierce Christian.  She loved decorating for Christmas time, often filling the inside of the church with lights from top to bottom.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband: Segal Roy Phillips; granddaughter: Chasty Rose Carson; mother: Gada N. Lay; brother: Billy H. Lay; sister: Effie Arlena Lay; grandmother Flora Honeycutt; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Burl and Julia Mae Phillips; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary Jane Lay, Irene Carson, Goldie and Paul Carson, Velma and LD Jeffers, Arzo Phillips, Hubert Phillips, and Walter Duncan.

She is survived by her daughter: Shonda Rolene Phillips; her son Shane Roy Phillips and fiancé Michelle Hatfield; grandchildren: Darcy Shane Phillips and fiancé Tewanna Myers, Jennifer Paige Casey and fiancé Alex Gilreath, Nicole Shanae Casey and fiancé Jonathan Chambers; great grandchildren: Dakota Chase Carson, Leia Raley Phillips, Anakin Phyre Casey, Jycen Phaux Casey and step great grandson Urban Lee Payne Foster; brother and sister-in-law: Bobby A. and Carolyn Lay; sister and brother-in-law: Janette and George Taylor; sister: Elvina Rose DeMoss; sister-in-law: Nellie June Duncan; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Phillips family on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Randall Duncan officiating.  Music will be provided by Allen and Diane Carson.

Graveside service will be on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 12 noon at the Sexton Memorial Cemetery in the Paint Rock Community.  Pallbearers will be: Shane Phillips, Darcy Phillips, Alex Gilreath, Dakota Carson, Kenny Terry and Robert Hallock.
