William (W.O.) West

William O. West, Jr. (W.O.) of Oneida, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home. He was born in Oneida, Tennessee on May 7, 1932 to the late William O. West Sr. and Lucy Burchfield West.

William was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oneida, TN for over 45 years, taught the Median Adult Men for 25 years and at the Oneida Special School System in the Science department for 27 years until he retired in 1983. He also served in the U.S. Army, was a member in the Kiwanis club and belonged to the retired teachers’ association.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by; Sister, Maxine Kyle; Brothers-in-law, Boots Kyle and Muril Smith; niece, Mary Katherine Sexton Reagan.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith West; sons, Jeff West and wife Gin of Hartsville, SC, and Mike West and wife Jean of Oneida, TN; grandson, Josh West and wife Trish of Jackson, Ohio; granddaughter, Rachel Knight and husband Cameron of Jackson, Ohio; great grandchildren, Meghan, Audrey, Deonna, Elaine, Ethan and Scott all of Jackson, Ohio; sister, Imogene Smith of Oneida, TN; sisters-in-law Rochelle King and husband David and Sue Smith; brother-in-law Rob Smith and wife Claudette; nephew, Marvin West of Knoxville, TN; two special girls, Kailyn and Abby Hill; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the West family Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 5 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oneida, TN with Bro. Randy Pressnell, Bro. Josh West and Bro. Dale Smith officiating. Music will be provided by the First Baptist Church Choir.

Graveside service will be held Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, Median Adult Men and Sunday School Class.
