Addie Luretta Comer, age 101 of Oneida, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Huntsville Manor Nursing Home. She was a longtime member of the Five Black Gums Baptist Church and David’s Chapel Baptist Church in Lafollette, Tennessee.
She was born on February 8, 1917 to the late George Flemon Lay and Bertie Silcox Lay.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Eugene Comer; (7) brothers: J.P., J.W., Larry, Earl and wife Emily, James and wife Nannie, Eugene and wife Caroline, and Lloyd George “Bucky” Lay and wife Margie; (3) sisters: Geneva Navaro, Eula Lay and Nancy Collins; brothers-in-law: Frank Tighe, Joe Navarro and Nathanel Muse.
She is survived by (3) sisters: Dorothy Tighe, Phyllis Muse, and Sarah McGinnis and husband Gerald. (2) brothers: Hoyle Lay, Amon Lay and wife Bertha Lou. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who all loved her dearly.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Lay officiating. Music will be provided by the Five Black Gum Choir.
Graveside service will be conducted on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Lay-Silcox Cemetery in the Rockhouse community.
Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews.
