Virgie Bernice Adkins Hutson Obituary

Virgie Bernice Adkins Hutson, age 76 of Huntsville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at her home.

Born September 9, 1942, she is the daughter of the late James Ernest Byrd, Sr. and Sylbia Byrd.

Virgie was a member of the Norma Baptist Church and was strong in her faith. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting and playing her organ. She worked for many years in the nursing profession before her retirement and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Sylbia Byrd; children, Kimberly Adkins and Erickson Adkins; siblings, Wilma Jean Byrd, Ondria Ruth Byrd, Muriel (Murl) Byrd, Althea Barringer, Marjorie Bond, Patricia Barrett, James Ernest Byrd, Jr.; husbands, Wallace Adkins and James Hutson.

She is survived by two sons, Teddy Adkins and fiancé Penny Dixon of Oneida, TN, Alan Adkins and wife Maricruz of Jonesboro, AR; grandchildren, Anthony Adkins, Roy Adkins, Natalie Adkins all of Jonesboro, AR; sisters, Carolyn Chambers of Oneida, TN, Venna West of Knoxville, TN; brothers, Marvin Byrd and wife Joyce of Chatsworth, GA, Rev. Ledford Byrd and wife Ada of Huntsville, TN. Virgie also leaves many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Hutson family on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Carlie Duncan and Bro. James Pennington officiating.

Music will be provided by the Lloyd Family.

Interment will follow in the Rector/Byrd Cemetery in Straight Fork, Tennessee.
