Billie 'Bill' Strunk

Billie (Bill) Strunk, age 92 of the Pine Hill Community of Oneida, TN, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.  Born July 22, 1927 in Scott County, TN, he was the son of the late Roy and Laura Reed Strunk.   Bill was a member of the Pentecost Baptist Church and served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent; was previously a Deacon and teacher at Pine Hill Baptist Church, for a total of 60 years.  He was a Charter Member of the Scott County Rescue Squad; a United States Veteran of WWII; and was an avid turkey hunter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter:  Debby Slaven and husband Harlin; grandparents:  Lucinda Chitwood, and Campbell and Rebecca Reed; father and mother-in-law:  Elbert and Etta Laxton; brothers:  Bobby and Audie Strunk; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Glen Lee, Jo Dean Strunk, Roscoe Williams, Wanda Strunk, and Jim and Janice Laxton.

Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years:  Lilyan Laxton Strunk; daughters:  Marlesa Jahay and husband Ernie, and Christy Hughett; grandchildren:  Clint Slaven and wife Shanna, Brent Slaven and wife Michelle, Craig Foster and wife Mandy, Carissa Sadler and husband Scottie, Kayla Jeffers and husband Michael, Brian Jahay and wife Mindy, Todd Jahay and wife Dawn, and Kim Carroll and husband Curt; great grandchildren:  Cody Slaven and wife Ruthie, Mckenzie Wright, Braden Slaven, Colton Slaven, Jeremiah Slaven, Easton Sadler, Emmitt Sadler, Skyler Foster, Owen and Tayler Blake, Emily, Ariah, Kaden and Kyler Jahay, Evan and Colton Williams, and Blake Carroll; great great granddaughter:  Braelynn Slaven; sisters:  his twin Dillie Lee, and Betty Jean Williams; brother:  Ernest Strunk; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Mary Nell Compton, Barbara Burton and husband Charles; special turkey hunting partner and nephew:  Rusty Strunk; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends.

Friends may visit with the Strunk family on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Stanley, Bro. Tim Hicks and Bro. Ashley Cooper officiating.  Music will be provided by the Pentecost Baptist Church Choir.

Committal service will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Strunk Family Cemetery in the Pine Hill Community with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.  Pallbearers will be:  Craig Foster, Michael Laxton, Scottie Sadler, Charlie West, Michael Jeffers and Russell Ellis.  Honorary Pallbearers will be:  Cody, Braden and Colton Slaven, McKenzie Wright, Jeremiah Slaven, Easton and Emmitt Sadler, Skyler Foster, Owen and Tayler Blake.
