Caney Boyatt, age 83 of Oneida, TN, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the Tennova North Hospital in Powell, TN. He was born at Bald Knob, KY on June 19, 1936 to the late Lawrence and Julie Sweet Boyatt. Caney was of the Baptist faith and in his early years attended Bethalonia Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife: Minnie Christine Slaven Boyatt whom he married on September 30, 1961; seven brothers; four sisters; mother-in-law Bessie Slaven.
Caney is survived by two sons: Curtis Levi Boyatt and wife Linda, and Michael Boyatt; one daughter: Mary Boyatt; grandchildren: Courtney McCann, Matthew McCann and wife Montana, Jessica Worley, Ruthie Worley, and R. J. Ross; twelve great grandchildren; brother-in-law: Freeman Slaven and wife Betty and sons; sisters-in-law: Thelma Faye Slaven, Dorothy Slaven and husband Mike, and Elizabeth Burke Boyatt; special nephew: Jim Smith; care givers: Carla Hatmaker and Lacey Lowe; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
A private family graveside service will be held at the L. J. Smith Cemetery in Oneida, TN.
