Janis Lee (Burchfield) Potter

Janis Lee Potter, 92 of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Legacy at Springhurst. She was born on December 4, 1929, in Gennett, Tennessee to Esau and Cora (Patton) Burchfield. Janis graduated from Robbins High School in 1947. She married her husband, Curtis Alex Potter on November 10, 1948.

Janis worked several places throughout her career, but most recently she was an Emergency Room Technician for 20 years at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield where she retired in 1991. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star - Miriam Chapter #64. Janis loved traveling and she also enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, sewing, crocheting, and picture collecting. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.

Janis is survived by her daughters, Sheila Ann (Robert) Fox of Greenfield; Deborah Gail (Gerald) Shippee of Frazee, MN; brother, Esau Burchfield Jr. of Robbins, TN; sisters, Shirley Evelyn (Donald) Perry of Indianapolis, Patricia Faye Dixon of Indianapolis; Judy Kaye (Jimmy Lee) Foster of Lenoir City, TN; grandchildren, Robin Ann (Sherman) Johnson of Punta Gorda, FL; Jeremy Andrew Fox (Kim Forrest) of Greenfield; Nathan Daniel (Tetyana) Shippee of St. Paul, MN; Aaron Jacob (Annalise) Shippee of Dent, MN; great-grandchildren, Sadie Ann, Carter James, Lilliana Gail, Milena Mariya, and Eliana Ivana Shippee; sister-in-law: Marjorie Imogene Burchfield of Helenwood, TN; sister-in-law: Gertrude Gleneva (John) Dellinger of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews. Janis is preceded in death by her parents, Esau and Cora (Patton) Burchfield; husband of 73 years, Curtis Alex Potter; brother: James William Burchfield; sisters: Mary Ruth Sims, Glenis Jean York, Reba Burchfield.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US HWY 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00pm at the mortuary. Pastor David Woods will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
