John Marion Thomas

John Marion Thomas, age 91 of Oneida, TN, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, KY.  Born October 1, 1928, he was the son of the late William Harrison ‘Harris’ and Litha Blevins Thomas.

John Marion lived his life as rural letter carrier and farmer.  To be in his presence was to know a love and calming peace he naturally exuded.  He will be missed by all who had ever met him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife:  Reva Smith Thomas; siblings:  Lilly Terry, Reason S. Thomas, Oscar Thomas, Flora Phillips, Walter Thomas, Arthur Thomas, Maude Carson, Tolbert Thomas, Frona Walters, Lona Daugherty, Bertha Terry and Arlenia West.

He is survived by his son:  William A. (Bill) Thomas; daughters:  Sheila (Edward) Sursa, and Leila (Bentley) Cromer; grandchildren:  Jonathan (Courtney) Thomas, Stephanie (James) Proffitt, William Daniel (Kayla) Dobbs, Michael (Amanda) Cromer, Hedy Edwards, Matthew (Susan) Sursa, and Adam (Diane) Sursa; great grandchildren:  Ava Jane Thomas, Jacob Dobbs, Avery Dobbs, Zooey Proffitt, Anastasia Proffitt, Cody Edwards, Falyn Edwards, Dylan Edwards, Brianna Sursa, Nicholas Sursa, Lydia King, Taylor Gibson, Jaylyn Sursa and Ansley Sursa; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the service for Mr. Thomas has been changed to a private family service.
