Lorene Miller Phillips of Oneida passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on January 29, 2021. She was born on July 25, 1929 to Will J and Ellen Burk Miller of the No Business Community.
Lorene was a faithful member of Black Oak Baptist Church where she served as the Sunday School secretary and treasurer for over 50 years. She loved to sing in the choir and did so until she was unable to attend church services. Even after Alzheimer’s had dimmed her memory, she could still be heard singing the hymns she loved word for word.
She was married to Luther F. Phillips from 1959 until his death in 1990. She was a loving wife and mother and dedicated herself to being a homemaker. Later in life she began a career in banking at 1st National Bank of Oneida. She retired from 1st National after 20 years. She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Luther F. Phillips, her parents: Will J and Ellen Burk Miller, sisters Hester Kidd (Aunton), Laura Boyatt (Boyce), Elizabeth (Lib) Harris (Ray), Eva Payne (Kenneth), brother Lenord F. Miller (Louise) and brother in law, Robert Perry.
Lorene is survived by her daughter: Denise P. Terry and husband Greg, of Memphis, Tennessee and son Darren M. Phillips and wife, Nikki of Oneida; Grandchildren: Jordan Terry and wife Nicole, Jarrod Terry and wife Amber all of Memphis, Tennessee, Haleigh Phillips Wright and husband Dakota, Jon Keeton and wife Haley of Knoxville; Great grandchildren: Davis Terry, Kade and Ellie Terry, Heavenleigh and Quinceigh Wright. She is also survived by her brother Lillard Miller and wife Dorla, and sister: Juanita Perry; and a host of other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Phillips family on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Black Oak Baptist Church in Oneida, TN with Bro. Kyle Keeton and Bro. Crestin Burke officiating. Burial will follow at The Miller Family Cemetery.
