"Pete" Earshel Waid Lawson

“Pete” Earshel Waid Lawson, age 69 of Helenwood, TN passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, TN. Pete was born on August 29, 1951 in Huntsville, TN to the late Silas and Lucinda Jeffers Lawson. Pete was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army and he was a veteran of the Vietnam era.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Pete Waid Lawson; grandson, Houston Byrd; brothers, JC, Donald Ray, Eldrige and Bobby Lawson; sisters, Beulah, Frankie Van Rualte, and Minnie Pemberton.

Pete is survived by his wife, Penny Seabolt Lawson of Helenwood; daughters, Trina Byrd and husband Mark of Oneida, Tiffany Seabolt of Morgan County; grandchildren, Ashton, Triston, and Marklee Mae Byrd, all of Oneida, Dean Taubert, Susan, Waid and Krew Lawson, and Troy Garrett, all of Robbins; sister, Ella Mae Phillips of Holland, Michigan; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Lawson family on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Judd Ellis officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Carson Memorial Park in Oneida with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Dean Taubert, Jonathan Lawson, Cody Terry, and Junior Lawson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Willard Lawson and Eddie Honeycutt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Byrdi’s Playground Project.

With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Masks are required.
