Sammie Lindsay Obituary

Sammie Leon Lindsay, born January 8, 1939, of Allardt, TN passed away at age 82 on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was a Marine veteran and astonishingly he turned 18 years old in Japan, where he was attached to the Sixth Fleet. He joined the Marines on May 23, 1956 and served actively until May 19, 1958. He remained in the Reserves until May 22, 1962 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was a machinist for 45 years. He also loved to hunt and fish, and his little dog Bella was his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Walker Lindsay and father, Granville Lindsay; sisters, Nellie Lindsay, Gloria Burgess, and Jurlene Dalton; daughters, Karen Hamby and Santina Breeden.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lou Lackey Lindsay; daughters, Samantha and Daniel Harrison (Allardt, TN), Patty and Martin Tanguay (Knoxville, TN), Betty Jo and Richard Summers (Wartburg, TN), Debie and David Rausch (Nashville, TN); son, Samuel and Jennifer Lindsay (Thomaston, GA); a host of many grandchildren, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; special friends, Libby Owens, Linda Morgan Copley, Susan Marlow, and Mike Parnell.

Friends may visit with the Lindsay family on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 1 p.m. EST until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. EST in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Anthony Creselious officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Todd Cemetery in Elgin, TN with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
