Virginia B. Smith

Virginia Brown Smith, age 81 of Oneida, TN departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Scott County, TN on September 13, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Dorothy Sexton Brown. Virginia was strong in her Faith and a longtime member of Black Oak Baptist Church where she loved to attend and listen to the Word of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, James Kirby Smith; mother and father-in-law, Ike and Ollie Smith; brothers-in-law, J. C. Lloyd, Tony Smith, Roger Smith, Harold Smith, Bill Chitwood and Jim Laxton; sisters-in-law, Janice Laxton, Lorena Chitwood and Terri Smith.

Virginia is survived by her son, Wesley Smith of McMinnville, TN and daughter, Leesa Smith of Oneida; grandson, whom she raised, Tyler Smith and wife Jessica; great grandchildren that she loved dearly, Jazlyn King and Jayla Smith, all of Oneida TN; sister, Geneva Lloyd of Cherry Fork; brother-in-law, Billy Joe Smith and wife Carolyn of Oneida; sister-in-law, Patsy Cannon of Knoxville, TN; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Virginia’s request was cremation.

Friends may visit with the Smith family on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 6 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Kyle Keeton and Bro. Crestin Burke officiating.

Virginia will be laid to rest in a private graveside burial at a later date.
