Dorothy Jean “Danberry” Shoemaker age 73 of Elgin, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Dorothy was born in Du Quoin, Illinois and raised in Joliet, Illinois. She graduated from Joliet Central High School, she attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Whitley City, Kentucky. She was very devoted to her church, where she taught Sunday School classes and attended various church activities. Dorothy worked for the head start in Robbins, Tennessee. She was very loving, kind and a people person. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Irene and George Danberry; brothers-in-law Jimmy Shoemaker and Buddy Rooks.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Shoemaker; daughter, Debbie Gunter and husband Billy; step-daughter, Karen Starr and husband David; step-grandson, Jeremy Shoemaker; Grandchildren, Jordan Phillips and Kaleb Gunter; sisters, Janet Rooks and Georgia Wrentshaler and husband Curt; brother, Russ Danberry; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley Shoemaker and husband Barney and Ruby Jean Shoemaker; and many other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Shoemaker family on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bishop Donald Downing officiating.
Interment will follow in the Carson Memorial Park.
