Eva Payne Obituary

Eva Miller Payne, age 92 of the Black Oak Community in Oneida, TN, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Facility. She was born on October 30, 1926 to the late Will J. and Ellen (Burke) Miller; and was a charter member of Black Oak Baptist Church.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Elmer Payne; sisters: Laura (Miller) Boyatt and husband Boyce, Hester (Miller) Kidd and husband Aunton, and Elizabeth (Miller) Harris and husband Ray; brother: Lenord Frances Miller and wife, Louise; sisters-in-law: infant Margie Payne, and Opal Payne and husband Argie; brothers-in-law: Luther Phillips, Bob Perry, Estel Payne and wife Susie, John Payne and wife Lizzie, Ralphard Payne, Lewis Payne and Art Foster.

She is survived by her four children: Lovada (Payne) Ferguson and husband Doug, Nada (Payne) Laxton and husband Jim, Kenny Payne and wife Marilyn, Tom Payne and wife Elaine; nine grandchildren: Jeanne Ferguson, Douglas Ferguson and wife Meghann, Darby Laxton and wife Greta, Tara (Laxton) Lay and husband Joe Don, Jade Laxton and wife Jaclyn, Travis Payne and wife Jennifer, Nicole Payne, Josh Payne and Kelby Payne; great grandchildren: Wyatt Ferguson, Rory Ferguson, Grady Laxton, Nora Lay, Jennings Lay, Riley Laxton and Luke Laxton; sisters: Lorene (Miller) Phillips and Juanita (Miller) Perry; brother: Lillard Miller and wife Dorla; sisters-in-law: Kate (Payne) Strunk and Edith (Payne) Foster; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Payne family on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at the Black Oak Baptist Church with Bro. Robert King, Bro. Kyle Keeton and Bro. Crestin Jeremy Burke officiating. Music will be provided by the Black Oak Baptist Church Choir.

Burial will follow in the Miller Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Douglas Ferguson, Darby Laxton, Jade Laxton, Travis Payne, Josh Payne and Kelby Payne.
