Lillie May Rose Obituary

Lillie M. Rose, age 90 of Oneida, TN, passed away on July 11, 2019. She was born October 17, 1928 in Scott County Tennessee.  She was the daughter of Oscar & Pearl (O’Neal) Cotton.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Eugene (Gene) Rose: Brothers James Cotton, and Russell, Sister Orangie Cotton. Sons Larry and Paul Rose.
She grew up in the Williams Creek area.  She was a loving wife for 50 years.  She loved all of her children. She always tried to be a servant to others and was always greeting everyone with a smile. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years until she could not attend due to her health.
She was a housewife for many years.  After her children were in school she started working as a substitute teacher in Scott County and served as librarian at the Scott/Oneida center. Then worked at Tibbals until the 90’s when she retired.  She served on the Board of Directors with Baptist Hospital from late 80’s to early 90’s.

She is survived by Sister Ruth Whittenburg and husband James A of Oneida, Oscar Harold Rose and wife Christine of Ashland, KY, Donna (Rose) Kenney and husband Rick of Oneida, Randy Rose and wife Michelle of Marshall, ILL. Daughters in law are Betty (Bet) Rose of Oneida, and Juanita Rose Tucson, ARZ, Debbie Rose Johnson of Panama City, FLA. She had 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  A special young man who she considered like a grandson from Japan Okey Sato.
She will be missed by her family and friends.  

Friends may visit with the Rose family on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Oneida with Bro. Steve Hodges and Bro. Philip Kazee officiating.   

Interment will follow in the Hazel Valley Cemetery.
