Darryl Lee Phillips, II Obituary

Darryl Lee Phillips, II, age 30 of Knoxville, TN departed this life on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his mother’s home in the Straight Fork community. 

Darryl Lee accepted Christ as his Savior in middle school during a trip to church camp. Then joined the church that he had attended his whole childhood, White Rock Baptist Church.

At age 5, he took interest in the piano. In the start, Darryl Lee taught himself before beginning formal lessons. He was featured on two CDs playing piano and singing gospel music. 

Darryl Lee was a 2008 graduate of Oneida High School. After graduation, he continued his education to begin his career in the medical field. He earned his professional license and became a Medical Laboratory Technician. He recently accepted a position at Tennessee Oncology affiliated with Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Darryl Lee was an essential worker during the Novel Covid-19 Pandemic. He processed thousands of Covid-19 tests for the Southeastern region. 

Family members gone on before him are his father, Darryl Phillips; his Papaw Gary Lee Byrd, and Papaw Denzil Phillips.

Darryl Lee leaves behind his mother, Leah B. Phillips and Bill Adkins; his little sister, Alex; brother-in-law, Marcus Burchfield of Manchester, KY; his three precious nieces, Everlei Carliene, Rory Mae, and Aria Hope, known to them as “Uncle Boo;” his nana, Lois Byrd and his granny, Sandra B. Phillips; aunts and uncles, Greta and Danny Phillips, Angela and Jason Sexton, Denny Phillips of Nashville, TN, Denise and Mike Keeton, and Dani and Kent Strunk; his first cousins, Clint and Micah Keeton, Courtney West, Jeremiah Sexton, Joshua Phillips, Isaiah Sexton, Gracie and Keelee Strunk, Braxton and Dalton Phillips, and Kennon Strunk; his long-time friend, Cindy Topping of Atlanta, GA; many other relatives and friends. Darryl Lee also leaves behind his three pets that he loved so much, his dog, Tuco and two cats, Goose and Hallie.

Friends may visit with the Phillips family on Friday, October 30, 2020 from 4 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jim West and Bro. Wayne King officiating. Music will be provided by Chris Sewell.

Committal service will be on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Botts Cemetery in the Pioneer community. Pallbearers will be: Dennis and Jason Byrd, Joshua Phillips, Jeremiah and Isaiah Sexton, and Clint Keeton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Matthew Byrd, Braxton and Dalton Phillips.

With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Masks are required.
