Mary Jo Slaven Obituary

Mary Jo Cooper Slaven, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center after a long illness.  Born March 4, 1939, she was the daughter of Sheridan Henderson and Eva Jane Watters Cooper.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband:  Chester McConds Slaven; sons:  Randy Dewayne Cooper, and Rodney Allen Cooper and wife Barbara Cooper; brothers:  Willie and Agnes Darrow Cooper, Lonzo and Ruth Henson Cooper, Orville and Lulabelle Darrow Cooper, Noble L. and Letha Strunk Cooper, and Ruby Caudell Cooper, Josh Castle and Josephine Pullam Cooper, Buddy Henderson and Dessie Caudell Cooper, and Delbert Cooper; sisters:  Ninnie Cooper Pennington, Pearl Cooper and, Ruby Cooper Kelly and husband Paul.

She is survived by her brothers:  Thurman and Stella Vanover Cooper, and J. B. Cooper; sister:  Vonnie Elizabeth Cooper Watson; daughter-in-law:  Teresa Cooper; grandsons:  Mark Anthony and Jenelle Watters, Travis Owens and wife Edrie and children, and Billie Joe and Ashley Wilson Cooper; granddaughters:  Eva Renia Cooper and husband Michael Bertram, Letricha Jolene Cooper Sexton, Cindel Anderson and husband Brandon and children, and Chrystal Gail Hall Cooper Perry; great grandchildren:  Summer, Zack, Charity, Hanna, Marcus, and Alyssa Cooper, Katie Perry, and Lauralei Faith Sexton; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Slaven family on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Duvall officiating. 

Committal service will follow in the Alticrest Cemetery in Jamestown, TN.
